Spring Reading List

March 1, 2018

Winter is almost over. Even though this extremely cold temperatures are perfect for cozing up by the fireplace with a cup of peppermint tea and a good book I find myself being too lazy to even get out of my bed.

I'll have to admit that I spent most of my winter time watching Netflix and scrolling through Instagram -not the most productive activities- and while these are enjoyable ways to pass up time I can't help but feel a little guilty for not doing something more enriching.

So I decided that this coming Spring, I'll commit myself and try to read a little more. I used to be a huge reading enthusiast but with grad school, work time and some health issues I shove reading to the back of my priorities list. And to be honest, I love reading. I love getting lost in new worlds, meeting new characters, traveling to unknown places.... That's why I decided to do an exhaustive browse of all my book purchases and pick some titles to read during the Spring time.

So without further ado, here are the 5 books that I'll try to read during this season. Now I promise I'll try my best to finish them all but we'll see how this challenge goes.

1. Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me by Lily Collins

When I found out Lily Collins was coming out with a book, I thought to myself -what is she going to write about- because sometimes celebrity books can be a bit superficial and not relatable at all. But I've read reviews about her debut book and I heard some of her interviews during the press tour and I think this is something worth giving a try. I've been a huge fan of Lily and admire her talent, beauty and personality. So I can't wait to get a glimpse of her life and her own deepest secrets in this honest essay collection.

2. The Gallery by Laura Marx Fitzgerald

I've never read Laura Marx Fitzgerald before nor have I heard of her. But I was browsing for some easy to read books and I came across The Gallery. I'm a  big fan of art and stories with a tint of mystery. Now I know this book is not intellectually challenging as its focused for really young people, but hey! remember I'm easing back into reading and there's no shame in enjoying silly stories.

3. Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person by Shonda Rhimes

I love Shonda Rhimes!!! Yes, she's a TV goddess. Yes, she's the one that wrote Crossroads. But that doesn't take away the fact that this amazing, strong, successful woman has lived enough to know a thing or two about encouraging people to put themselves first and try to find a balanced, happy life. Now I don't know much about this book, but I'm intrigued enough to give it a read and learn whatever Shonda Rhimes wants to teach me.

4. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Every single book I've read by Rainbow Rowell has made me attached in an unbelievable manner. This woman knows how to keep you interested, how to get you involved with the characters and how to transport you to wherever place her stories take place. I'm eager and really excited to read this book.

5. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling

Yes, you read that right. Harry Potter. I just started reading the books last year, so I put this on the list because I owe it to myself to finish the most amazing story my mind has ever come across. I love Harry Potter. Let me say that again, I LOVE HARRY POTTER!!!

So there you have it guys, my Spring Reading List. This post is a way to hold myself accountable and to commit to start reading a little bit more. Let me know in the comments what books are you eager to start reading and also what are some of your favourite books so I can take a look and add them to my future reading list. Don’t forget to share and like this post if it helped in any way.

Until next time.
