  • Write. Reflect. Evolve. How to unlock your best self through a journaling practice

Have you ever felt like life is too loud, too noisy or too busy that you can't even hear your own thoughts? The hectic reality of this modern world has left me, on more occasions than I care to admit, wanting to silence everything around me and have a sweet second to listen to my mind. When it becomes impossible or unrealistic to physically escape, I turn to journaling, where it is just me and a blank page. No judgment, no deadlines, just the freedom to explore my mind. First, let's go back to the basic question: what is journaling? You hear this word in YouTube videos, you read about it in blogs and magazines, and many life coaches and authors recommend it. But what does it actually mean? Journaling is writing down your thoughts, emotions, feelings, memories, and experiences. The intention of this practice is to help you understand and reflect on them. Now, why should you try journaling? From personal experience, I find that it can be a powerful tool for self-discovery, growth, and transformation. The beauty of it lies in its simplicity and freedom. You can journal however you want. There are no rules, no boundaries, no limitations. It can be as simple or as complex as you like. If you're interested in unlocking your best self through journaling, then keep reading to learn how you can get started with this practice. A simple guide to get started with journaling Embrace the freedom You have a blank page in front of you. This is the moment where you can create a space that reflects who you are. Your journaling format is as unique as you are, so don't be afraid to experiment with different mediums like notebooks, bullet journals, loose pages, or even digital apps. This is not a one-size-fits-all. Find what works for your personality, lifestyle, writing preferences and creativity. Make a date with yourself It is important to set aside a dedicated time of your day just for introspection and exploration. It doesn't have to be tedious, long or boring. Even 5 to 10 minutes can make a difference. Remember, it is all about finding what works best for you and your lifestyle. If you can only journal once a week, then do that. If you have one hour each night to journal, then do that. In order to grow, evolve and unlock your best self, what truly matters is that you make a commitment and follow through. Embrace the beauty of freewriting Let your words pour out and capture every fleeting thought, feeling, and sensation. This is a space to express your true self so don't be afraid to be vulnerable. Remember, there's no right or wrong way to journal. There's just your way. So don't overthink it. Write whatever comes to mind, even if it seems nonsensical or random. Sometimes, the most unexpected scribbles can lead to profound insights. Use prompts to spark your creativity We've all been there, sitting with a pen in hand and a blank page filled with infinite possibilities. But we can't even write one word. Sometimes, when we're tired, stressed, uninspired or blocked, it can be hard to follow through with a journaling practice. In those moments when you're feeling stuck, I suggest you use prompts to guide your writing. You can find many prompt ideas in Pinterest, YouTube videos and even gather inspiration from songs, books and movies. You can also visit my shop to find stunning journals complete with inspiring prompts to jumpstart your journaling journey. Unleash your creativity and embrace your uniqueness Your journaling practice is an extension of your individuality. In it, you can infuse your interests and express your creative skills. This is a space for exploration, so feel free to add doodles, drawings, photos, cut-outs, memories, art, or even stickers. Remember, your journal is a reflection of you. It will grow and change as you do. Don't be afraid to experiment, get messy, and embrace the unique beauty of your soul. If you're ready to start journaling, grab a notebook and a pen. Let's explore four beginner-friendly and simple journaling practices that will help you transform a blank page into a world of self-reflection and self-discovery. One-Sentence Journal This minimalist method is ideal for those getting started with journaling. You simply write one sentence to capture your thoughts and emotions. You can choose to do a monthly, weekly or daily session to reflect on what you’re grateful for, or focus on a particular topic like self-love, personal growth or any specific interest. Morning/Evening Pages In this exercise, you set a time limit to write about anything and everything that crosses your mind. You can choose to do both of them or pick only one. You can adapt the length, format, and content to fit your needs and preferences. Both can help you reflect on your thoughts, process your feelings and emotions, and clear your mind. Photo Journaling When words fail, pictures spark inspiration. Use this practice when you’re stuck and don’t know what to write about. Find an inspiring photo (from your camera roll or from Pinterest) and write whatever comes to mind. It can be a story, a reflection, your thoughts, emotions, or any details you want to highlight. If you’re having trouble deciding what picture to use, you can choose a specific theme like an event in your life, a trip you took, or any interests you have like art, sports, fashion, etc. Prompt-Based Journaling This practice is great for those who are new to journaling or for when you’re struggling to find something to write about. You can find many questions and ideas to guide your writing on sites like Pinterest. Journaling prompts serve as a starting point. You can personalize them to fit your style and interests. They can help you explore topics, emotions, and perspectives that you might not have considered otherwise. Are you ready to turn down the volume and quiet the world? Take a deep breath, open your notebook, grab a pen, choose a practice, and embark on your journey of self-discovery. Your journal is an expression of your soul, a testament to your unique story. Journaling isn't just a trend; it's a powerful tool for evolving, transforming, and unlocking your best self, one page at a time. The only wrong way to journal is not to journal at all. Until next time. Gabriela Fernández Copyright © Faërie Lifestyle. All rights reserved.

  • How to Activate and Connect with your Feminine Energy

Every woman possesses a magical essence within her. Connecting with our feminine energy can be a life-changing experience. It allows us to tap into a powerful source of creativity, intuition, and compassion. I believe that embracing our femininity can be a source of healing, connection and joy. When we connect with our feminine side, we are able to nurture and care for ourselves, both physically and emotionally. It allows us to feel more connected to our essence and discover who we are outside of this elusive modern world. If you're on the path to activate and connect with your feminine energy, the tips below are a great starting point to guide you in your journey. 1. Express your creativity. Women are naturally creative beings. Exploring different creative pursuits can be a source of inspiration and a great way to connect with yourself, feel and express your emotions. 2. Nurture yourself. Taking care of yourself is a feminine act, so make sure to take some time for self-care and doing things that make you feel good. Small things like getting ready each morning, wearing pretty clothes, eating healthier, moving more, having a skincare routine, keeping your space clean and organized. Whatever it is, make sure to do things that make you feel good about yourself and add beauty to your life. 3. Tap into your intuition. Women, by nature, are intuitive. When women are in touch with their feminine side, we develop a strong gut feeling or sixth sense and are able to sense things that others cannot. It is important to pay attention to these feelings and trust and follow this inner knowing. In future posts, I will talk about how to challenge negative messages about femininity and what are the most common obstacles women might face when trying to connect with their femininity. I believe that when women are free to express their femininity in whatever way feels authentic to us, we can reclaim our power and self-worth. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to connect with your feminine energy. This is a journey that will be different for each woman. The important thing is to find what feels authentic to you and to embrace it in your own way. Thank you so much for reading this post. Until next time. • How to Cultivate a Gratitude Practice and Make it Part of your Lifestyle

Every day we have the opportunity to make positive and lasting changes by implementing little habits and practices that can help transform our life and mindset. One of the biggest lessons that I learned throughout these past months is to be grateful and appreciative of everything and everyone that brings joy, positivity, and love to my life. Sometimes, complaining and being ungrateful can seem like the easy thing to do. But it is important to realize that we are fortunate and blessed to be alive. I have tried hard to display a kind and cheerful attitude despite the shortcomings and everyday problems that have come my way. Although I am not perfect, more often than not, I can let negative thoughts take over me and they end up ruining my day. Late last year, I made a commitment to try and cultivate a gratitude practice and make it part of my lifestyle. I realized that despite all the suffering, grief, and affliction happening in the world, I was fortunate to have my health, my home, my family, and all my basic needs met. I was beyond blessed. And that meant everything to me. I joined a 21 Day Gratitude Challenge, where I was given a daily prompt to journal and reflect on. This truly motivated me to dive deeper into making gratitude part of my life. Here are some easy steps I took that helped me cultivate gratitude and make it part of my everyday routine. 1. Give Thanks Regularly. What really steered me to a more grateful attitude was showing constant appreciation for even the smallest things. I was thankful for having a cold glass of water to drink, for showering with warm water in the cold weather, and for sleeping in a soft bed at night. This might seem silly to some of you, however in the rush of the day we sometimes take these blessings for granted. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have these little “luxuries”. 2. Write it Down. I first started verbalizing my gratitude, but after the 21 Day Challenge, I decided to make the practice more meaningful. I love journaling, specially as a way to manage my anxiety. So, I created my own Gratitude Journal and every night, I would set some time aside to fill it. To make it easier and stay focused, I created my own set of prompts. This daily habit has been such a gamechanger. Being able to read over my gratitude journal and see my thoughts and feelings reflected is a great way to have some accountability and also remember how fortunate and blessed I am. 3. Use Gratitude Prompts. Sometimes, it is hard to take time to sit down and journal. There have been days where I feel unmotivated or overwhelmed, and the last thing I feel like doing is writing what I am grateful for. In days like this, I find it useful to use gratitude prompts, which are sets of given questions that help guide your gratitude practice. I created my own Gratitude Journal with prompts, which has tremendously helped me in staying consistent with my practice. 4. Do What Works for You. Having a consistent gratitude practice shouldn’t be torturous to you. This is an intentional habit that is meant to help you feel content, grounded and happy. So, don’t stress about it too much. If you miss a day because you were busy, or you can only manage to sit down once a week to write down your thoughts, then so be it. Do what works for your lifestyle. What’s truly important is that you are having fun, being creative, and doing it because it fills you with joy. 5. Spread the Word. The best thing about starting a gratitude practice is sharing your blessings with the people around you. Once you experience a mindset shift and start seeing all the great benefits of a consistent gratitude practice, you will want to show your loved ones how much you appreciate them. One of the best feelings in the world is being able to share kindness and love with others. This can be done through simple gestures like sending a handwritten note or letter, giving someone a heartfelt compliment, being polite and treating people with respect. I hope this motivates you to start a gratitude practice that brings happiness to your life. Remember that this is just a guideline on how to begin. As you progress through being more grateful, you will discover your own particular way of showcasing this feeling. It is all about adding positivity to your life and doing something that works for you. Until next time. Gabriela Fernández Copyright © Faërie Lifestyle. All rights reserved

  • 5 Simple Ways to Practice Self-Care this Summer

For many people, Summer is the perfect season to unwind, relax, and take things slow. Many go on holiday trips, others stay at home to rest, and some make plans to catch up on hobbies and very much needed alone time. I know life gets hectic, and considering all the stress, pressure and uncertainty we've had to deal with in the past months, we should all be prioritizing our well-being. A perfect way to do this is to incorporate some simple self-care practices into our lifestyle and routines. Below, I wanted to share five simple ways you can practice self-care during the summer. 1. Read Grabbing a book or a magazine, taking your tablet and reading a blog post, flipping through a coffee table book.... reading for pleasure is a great form of self-care. Not only does it help your mind relax, it can also help you feel more calm, tap into your creative side, and you might even learn new things that will help you grow as an individual. 2. Make a playlist Music is one of the most powerful forms of self-care. Jamming to your favourite nostalgic songs, discovering new artists or genres, having a dance party in the kitchen, or singing Fearless (Taylor's Version, of course) out loud... music can help you feel happier and connected. 3. Sort out your space Having an organized, clean space is a great way to feel more relaxed, happier, and calm. Even if it's just for 5-10 minutes, carrying out simple tasks to make sure your living space is sorted will make a tremendous difference in your mood and mind state. Sometimes, self-care requires a little work, but remember that the whole point of it is to improve your well-being and lifestyle. 4. Take up a small hobby You don't have to spend the whole summer creating the next knitting masterpiece or training to compete in the Olympics. Doing something small just for fun is a great way to occupy your mind, be creative, and discover new passions. Try out an artistic project or something that keeps you active. The important thing is that you enjoy what you're doing. 5. Be still and breathe Sometimes, the best way to practice self-care is to do nothing at all. Meditating, sitting in silence, breathing fresh air as you sit in nature...taking the time to unwind and be alone is very much needed. The hectic pace of our regular routine, the chaos from the world, the misinformation, the never-ending drama, all of these things can pile up negative emotions in our mind and body. That's why, making a conscious effort to be still and breathe is an incredible self-care activity. I hope you enjoyed this post, Thank you so much for reading it. I would love to know what are some of your favourite self-care activities. Please, leave a comment and let me know! Until next time. Gabriela Fernández Copyright © Faërie Lifestyle. • Post-Pandemic Life: How Can We Acclimate to a 'New Normal'?

Life is shortly starting to shape back, but the reality is that things will never be the same. How can we acclimate to a 'new normal'? Many places all over the world are starting to experience a transition to normalcy now that vaccination has become widely available. If you take a quick look at social media, many articles and posts allude that life is slowly returning to "normal." But, is it really? Will everyone just pick up where we left off? After all the suffering, uncertainty, chaos, and sacrifices? After all the readjustments, new routines, and changes? I know many of us are wondering: how can we go back to the life we had before? Personally, thinking about it scares me. I don't know how to. I haven't left my house since January 2020. I haven't spoken to other human beings aside from my parents and siblings. I haven't been in a store filled with people, or in a restaurant eating food made by another person. I haven't had to stand in line to buy something. Most of my interactions have been online, with other content creators and bloggers. Music has been my constant companion and watching films and series on streaming services has been my go-to activity. I've cooked all my meals at home, done all my shopping online and have it delivered to my house. At the beginning of 2020, we all had to hit pause and try to find a way to collectively cope with a traumatic and unprecedented event. But the day we never thought would come seems to be finally approaching. What will life be like now? Will the annoyances and worries of pre-pandemic life matter now? Is it necessary to continue doing things as before? Many people have suffered loss, whether it was a loved one, a job, a home. I also understand that we all experienced the pandemic in different ways. But the pandemic put a lot of things in perspective for me, and I had to reevaluate many things from my lifestyle and myself. I wanted to write this post as a way of setting a personal guideline with a few tips to help anyone who is struggling with acclimating to a new normal, post-pandemic life. 1. Take it slow Many people will be eager to go out and try to do all those things they missed out on during lockdown and isolation. Please, be mindful and try to transition into your new normal at a comfortable pace. You may see individuals travelling, partying, crowding the stores, and trying all sort of activities. Don't let the fear of missing out get to you. You're the only one that truly knows your personal situation. Don't spend money carelessly. Don't overwhelm yourself emotionally or mentally. Don't engage in unhealthy habits. Bottom line is: take care of yourself. 2. Don't feel pressured If you worked on self-improvement during the pandemic, you probably made some lifestyle changes or worked on getting to know yourself a bit more. Maybe you connected with a new set of values to define how to live your life, or you learned what does and what doesn't deserve your energy, time, and attention. As you slowly transition into your new normal, remember to assess and consider if the activities, people, and experiences around you are enriching your life. Don't feel pressured to go back to unhealthy habits or relationships. Don't compromise your wellbeing for the sake of others. If you need to move in a different direction, don't be afraid to. 3. Prioritize your health If there is one big takeaway from this unprecedented event, it's how important taking care of our health is, emotionally, mentally, and physically. Achieving holistic wellness should be our top priority now and always. If you didn't get the chance to develop new healthy habits during lockdown, don't fret about it! You can start anytime. What truly matters is that you decide and commit to the process. If you're looking for guidance on how to refresh, reinvent, and refocus your lifestyle and mindset, be sure to check out this post with a lot of tips and suggestions. 4. Embrace the process You might be tempted to want to do so many things. After all, most of us had to put our plans on hold. But it's important to shift your focus and try to enjoy your journey. Don't overwhelm yourself! Being mindful about your new 'normal' will help you focus on this new reality and take things one day at a time. Each day will be different, the people you connect with will all have different experiences, and the time and manner into which we all adjust to life post-pandemic will vary greatly. Patience, understanding, and kindness with yourself and those around you is key. This is not an easy journey, so embrace and trust the process. Whatever you situation may be, remember to take care of yourself. Slowly, but surely, you'll be able to start building back your life and self. I hope you enjoyed this post. Thank you so much for reading it. Until next time. Gabriela Fernández Copyright © Faërie Lifestyle. All rights reserved

  • 4 Easy Ways to Revamp and Refresh your Blog

The blogging industry is constantly changing. With new trends arising, in both social media and the blogging community, bloggers and content creators face new challenges and opportunities to improve their work, gain new knowledge, and ultimately have fun creating new and better content. Sometimes, your site might seem dull or uninspiring; maybe you are not getting the best out of blogging, or your engagement on social media has dropped. Don't worry! This happens to the best of us. I know that many of us have either done a refresh of our blog and social platforms or are maybe thinking about doing one. I feel that, as we gain more experience in the industry, we are able to audit our content and determine ways we can improve on it. So, if you're looking for some ideas and inspiration, then keep on reading to learn about four easy ways you can revamp and refresh your blog. Sometimes, the initial theme we chose for our blog no longer inspires us, or it doesn't align with our brand. I personally did a whole rebranding of my site, but I remember when I first started out, I used to spend hours changing up my theme. I would play with the colors, fonts, and style of images and graphics. Even now that I feel extremely happy with my site's theme, I do some little tweaks every now and then. An easy way to refresh your blog is by changing up your color theme. It is important to choose colors that represent your brand and that make you happy. Pick 2-4 colors that work well together and that align with your brand. You can research about Color Theory to determine what shades to choose. Always consider white as the most predominant color in your designs. Using white backgrounds helps your content become clearer by removing visual clutter. Another small change that makes a huge difference is the font selection. To me, this is the most important aspect of your blog's design. Fonts have the power to make a site look professional, appealing, and attract the audience. So, take a look at your current fonts and see where you can change things up a bit. Choose 2-3 fonts: one for heading, one for subheading, and one for body text. Make sure they are readable, cohesive, and align with your brand. If you've been blogging for a few years, you will notice that some of your old posts need a little upgrading. Whether it is changing up photos and graphics, rewriting some paragraphs in your posts, and even adding new information you've learned about that particular topic, updating old content is a great way to keep your blog fresh and also offer your readers high quality content. This change also has other benefits for your site like boosting your search engine traffic, improving your ranking on Google, and more. It is a good practice to periodically go over your content and see if any posts, content, or pages in your site could benefit from a little refresh. I suggest you schedule one day of each month for this task. If you're looking for ways to optimize your SEO, rank better in Google, improve your search engine traffic, and increase your Domain Authority, then you need to audit your posts to determine if there are any broken links, and also check if you can add backlinks to those posts. Let's start with broken links. A broken link is essentially a link that no longer works, either because the webpage is no longer online, the link has been mistyped or the URL has changed. The problem with broken links is that they greatly affect your site's authority and reputation. Your readers are very likely to not come back to your site, not complete a purchase, and generally feel displeased with their user experience. Broken links also affect your search engine rankings. You can find many tools online to check for broken links. Depending on the type of issue, you'll need to fix or update those broken links. Another way to refresh your blog is by creating internal links to other pages or posts in your site. When first starting your blog, it is expected that you won't have as many posts. But, as you create new content and your blog grows, you should go back to your posts and see which ones can be referenced. Using the Related Posts feature is a great way to showcase internal links. This option adds a section at the bottom of your blog, where you can display relevant posts. You can use descriptive keywords in anchor text in the body of your post to reference other related posts. This makes the linking more natural. If you want to revamp your blog, one of the best things you can do is update your visual brand assets. Having a cohesive and consistent theme in your visual branding, which includes your blog and all social media accounts, helps to create a consistent message, be more easily recognized, and make your brand more professional. A great way to ensure consistency is by using presets for your photos, this way they all adhere to the same theme. If you're looking for some affordable options, I created the Ma Chérie Lightroom Presets Pack with four presets optimized for desktop and mobile. Also, when creating graphics for social media, whether it's pins, stories, quotes, blog promotion, etc. try using the same styling. Canva is a great tool that makes the design process easier. You can create a set of templates, and just update the images and text as needed. When creating visual elements for your site, try to stick to your brand's fonts, color palette, and photography style. If you're thinking about revamping and refreshing your blog, whether that is your theme, content, or visual assets, remember to always think about your brand's message and how you can offer value to your readers. Also, it is a good practice to constantly educate yourself by reading up on new trends, new changes in the blogging industry and new upgrades to whatever content management and creation tools you use. • How to Calm Your Anxious Thoughts and Feel More in Control

Disclaimer | This post is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Do you ever feel like your thoughts are racing a mile a minute? Anxiety can be overwhelming, making it hard to focus and feel in control. The good news is there are techniques you can learn to manage anxious thoughts and find a sense of calm. In this post, we'll explore some simple strategies to help quiet your mind and navigate those anxious moments. Whenever I start to experience anxiety, I take some time to ask myself what am I feeling? and why am I feeling this way? Writing things down is a great way to process your emotions, thoughts and try to understand what is actually going on in your mind. Having a clear view of the situation is something that helps calm me down and feel more in control. More often than not, I end up realizing that I am in no actual danger, and that my worries are not real threats. Other times, I am able to better understand what is causing my anxiety and find solutions to resolve these issues. If you find that being around people, noises, bright lights, or smells may cause you any sort of sensory overload, take some time to sit in a quiet room by yourself. I like to listen to calming music, smell lavender and peppermint essential oils, and just breathe. Also, taking a break from the internet, the news, social media, etc. is a great help. Shutting down the world and the people around me for a few hours just to be by myself is incredibly helpful. Drinking water is a great way to calm your mind. According to Calm Clinic (here is the article I referenced), dehydration can either make your symptoms worse, or be a contributing factor to cause anxiety. Staying hydrated can be surprisingly helpful when managing anxiety. Some people experience increased urination during anxious periods (there's actually some science behind this!), which can leave you feeling drained. To combat this, I find it beneficial to sip on cool water throughout the day. It not only rehydrates but also provides a refreshing break and a sense of self-care. Instead of feeling like a chore, focusing on the act of drinking water can become a calming ritual. Breathing exercises, coloring, painting, dancing, reading affirmations... there are so many great activities you can do to keep your mind engaged while also relaxing. Taking time off from your regular routine is a tremendous help. At the beginning it can be really hard, especially if you're used to feeling guilty for "wasting time" when you could be working. Trying to get work done when I cannot focus or remember things, is not good for me or for my business. I have learned that forcing myself to create content when I am dealing with anxiety is not a good practice. I would much rather take some time to process my emotions and then come back feeling refreshed and inspired to put the best of me into the work I do. Being able to calm your mind and find ways to better manage your anxious thoughts is an everyday practice. Remember to be consistent and patient with yourself. Listen to your mind and body, and do what works best for you. Until next time. Gabriela Fernández Copyright © Faërie Lifestyle. All rights reserved

  • 4 Easy Practices You Can Implement to Show Self-Appreciation

Our world can sometimes be surrounded with negativity, both online and in everyday interactions. People are quick to point out flaws, criticize past mistakes, or overanalyze what others say and do. This attitude doesn't come from a place of wanting to uplift or support someone, but rather from a place that might bring others down. This also has become a normalized conduct in how people treat themselves. Have you ever noticed how hard it is for some of us to take a compliment? Or how quick we are to bring up our so-called negative traits and blank out when asked to say one positive thing we love about ourselves? Why do we bristle when other people cherish themselves publicly, but normalize tearing others down? Why is it that we have become so okay with self-criticism, but feel uncomfortable with self-praise? Today, I wanted to share some easy practices that we can all implement to show more self-love and self-appreciation. In order to normalize being kind, showing love and uplifting ourselves and others, we have to start working on our own self. Below are some suggestions to help you be more gracious with yourself and start manifesting self-love and self-appreciation into your everyday life. Before anything else, it is important that you create an inventory of all the things you are proud to have accomplished, your special qualities, your character traits that you appreciate having, as well as what things you love about your personality, body, and intellect. Writing them down is a perfect way to materialize that self-love and self-acceptance. I find that when I have my thoughts written in a piece of paper or on my notes app, I am able to process information better. It is a quick way to access things when I need to remember something. One of the keys to manifestation is putting things out into the universe, and I truly believe that when it comes to nurturing self-acceptance, we need to not only verbalize our positive attributes, but also materialize our words. You can designate a special notebook or journal, in which you write every day. You can also use the notes app on your phone, or have a document in your computer. I recommend using self-esteem worksheets to make it easier for you. This is a great way to be more focused and motivated to cultivate this practice. Make sure to check out the Faërie Lifestyle Shop. There are so many resources available to help women get organized, achieve their goals, be productive, live more intentionally and find inspiration in everyday life. It is time to stop minimizing our accomplishments or in some cases not even acknowledging them. The "hustle culture" has not only normalized being overtired and overworked but it has also made it seem like we are expected to be successful in everything, and when we reach a special milestone or coveted goal, we move on to the next thing. This mindset is toxic, dangerous, and needs to stop. So no more taking our success for granted. We should feel happy and proud of our accomplishments. I want you to keep in mind that you don't have to wait to do something others qualify as extraordinary in order for you to feel worthy of celebrating. We are all in different journeys and deal with complex things in our everyday life. What's important is that you have a clear vision of what success means to you. Don't let others define that. Stay true to your convictions and values. As I said before, in order to show self-appreciation you need to stay true to yourself. An important part of this process is to truly get to know yourself. Self-growth through personality tests, books, podcasts and resources that nurture self-awareness is a great way to show self-appreciation. The most valuable investment will always be you! This is a continuous, transformative process. Our experiences makes us be in constant change. As we grow, we become better humans. Don't stay stuck! • Refresh & Realign Your Lifestyle and Mindset

I know some people wait until the very last days of the year to take a look back at all the things they've accomplished and to make some new resolutions and intentions for the next year. But I want you to know that you can start over anytime. There is no deadline or special day to do so. Today, I wanted to share some ideas and easy ways to have a major life upgrade. I'm talking about simple tips to refresh, reinvent, and refocus your lifestyle and mindset. I want all of you to truly regain your focus and take control of your life. This post will help you realign your lifestyle and mindset in order to be ready to conquer and be your best self. Before you start implementing any changes, it is essential to know what areas of your life need readjusting. I know this can be a bit overwhelming, especially with the busy lifestyles we all lead nowadays. I find that a very easy but thorough way to do a mini life audit is by using a Wellness Wheel. This tool was designed to evaluate 8 key areas -or dimensions- of your life to help you gain perspective and have a clear picture of how balanced your life is. By evaluating each dimension using a scale of 1-10, you will identify areas that aren't complying to your expectations and assess the ones that are thriving. Once you completed your Wellness Wheel, you are ready for the next stage: planning your lifestyle and mindset realignment. Below, I share some simple tips to refocus and balance these eight dimensions of wellness. 1. Emotional Emotional well-being refers to all the aspects related to your mental health, the quality of your thoughts and how you manage your feelings and emotions towards yourself and your environment. How to balance and improve the quality of your thoughts and emotions? Keep a journal I know you've probably read this advice over and over again, but trust me, this has been such a great help for me. Whenever I start feeling anxious or I've been dealing with depressive episodes, the first think that calms my mind is writing it all down. I feel a sense of relief and I get a clear understanding of what it is that I'm actually feeling. This helps me take a step back and understand my emotions better. Let go of toxic people and situations I've come to the realization that most of my anxious thoughts or the sadness I feel is usually caused by what other people do or say to me. I'm a highly sensitive person and I tend to pick up on other's energy and vibes. I really get affected by how other people behave and I tend to be very perceptive of their actions, emotions and underlying motivations. So I've really made it my mission to surround myself with people that are kind and honest. If I sense that a person only contacts me when they need something but don't bother to ask how I am doing any other time, I've cut ties with them. I've also learned that whatever someone else's opinions about my life are, it's not important. I will live my life in a way that makes me happy and gives me peace of mind. 2. Physical Having a healthy body is key to actually enjoying your life. You can have many goals, passion projects and ideas in your mind but if you're sick, you feel fatigued or are suffering from a chronic illness, chances are you won't have the energy and motivation to do anything. How to achieve holistic health? Change your daily habits Many of us lead very busy lives and barely have time to do anything besides work. But it's necessary to leave this mindset behind. If you truly want to reinvent your life, you need to make your health a priority now. Stop thinking you are young and that you can do it later in life. Because I'm here to tell you, you can't. You need to start taking care of your physical well-being right now. You, better than anyone, know exactly what areas of your routine and habits need readjusting. Here's a list with some general suggestions to help you get started: -Implement healthy eating habits. -Incorporate exercise into your routine. -Take your supplements, vitamins and minerals. -Get regular check-ups. -Limit alcohol. -Learn to take days off to rest and recharge. -Correct your sleeping habits. -Learn to make time for things that matter and make you happy. -Control stressful situations in your life by prioritizing your core values. 3. Environmental One of the biggest reason people feel frustrated, stressed and unsatisfied with their life is caused by living in a messy, unorganized and cluttered space. Your mind can't be at ease when it is surrounded by a dirty and untidy environment. How to turn your living space into an inspiring oasis? Your home should be a sanctuary to your mind, body and soul, not a dump of chaos. If you want to learn how to tackle the clutter in your life for good, check out my Living a Clutter-Free Life series, where I talk about how clutter impacts your mental health, how clutter affects your productivity and I share some easy steps to get rid of clutter (with a free E-book included). 4. Recreational Raise your hand if you spend all week long working? Whether it's investing your time in your job, your business, your side-hustles and even house chores or admin tasks, adulting seems to be a hectic and boring time in our life. Where did the days of going for ice cream, or on a walk to the beach go? Suddenly, we have no time to do things just because they bring us happiness and enjoyment. It's either stay busy and be productive or sleep to recharge your energy so you can stay busy and be productive again. This mindset is making all of us miserable. And I don't want any of you to spend another ten years living like this. I want you to be happy, joyful and actually enjoy your life. How to make time for your passions/hobbies and bring fun back into your life? If we truly want to be free from the overworked and miserable lifestyle, we need to make some big changes. You can start with small actions, like investing one hour a week to do something just for fun. Maybe you want to take singing lessons, or go to a sculpting class. Even if it's just for one hour, do something because you truly enjoy it. As this becomes part of your lifestyle, start setting apart more time. Maybe go on a weekend trip to a small town, go for a beach getaway or go antique shopping. What I really want you to do is shift your mindset and understand that you deserve to be happy. Life is not a prison where you're forced to work like crazy, pay bills and debts, and feel tired and miserable all the time. Right now, it may seem like you have no choice, but ask yourself this: has living this way for the past ten years make you a truly happy and accomplished person? Are you content with your life? Or do you wish to have a different life experience in the next decade? At first, the change will scare you, but the way I see it, you might as well try something new. You only have good things to gain. 5. Financial We all aspire to be financially prosperous and afford a good quality of life. The lifestyle you choose is a personal decision, so I won't attempt to tell you how to spend your hard-earned money. All I can suggest is that, if you're currently finding yourself stressed about money, there are some ways to make the situation better. You've probably heard all the experts' suggestions on the importance of paying your debt, removing unnecessary expenses and allocating some money towards a savings account. I am by no means a financial guru, so my suggestion-and one that I implement on my life to achieve financial freedom- is having multiple sources of income with a specific focus on passive income. I know not everyone wants to be a blogger or designer. And you don't have to. But be mindful of the fact that you can have an income thanks to the internet. I wrote a post talking about some simple ways to create passive income online. I also suggest that you think about working for yourself. I don't want you to quit your job just like that. But try to understand that you can't always be dependent on a corporation to provide you with your livelihood. I know they offer competitive salaries and benefits, but to them you're dispensable. One day, they can close the company, fire you, hire someone else, etc. And just like that, you're left without a source of income. For millennials, job-hunting has become so difficult, that it is not even consider a safe choice. Older generations might not understand this because they lived in a time where having a college degree meant getting a high-paid job. For us, it's a little harder and really expensive. Nowadays, younger generations are taking advantage of technology and opting for different career paths like becoming freelancers or business owners. Even if at the beginning, your income is small, the important thing is to take the first step and build your brand. I promise you there will be a moment where you start to enjoy the benefits and the hard work will pay off. 6. Intellectual I want you to imagine the next ten years of your life. Where do you see yourself? What are your aspirations? Now think about how you can bring those to life. Maybe you dream of seeing yourself in places that right now seem unattainable. But don't let your current situation limit you. The best way to prepare yourself for a thriving next ten years is to learn to identify change, embrace it and prepare yourself. Maybe you want to make a career change or move to a new country. Nothing is stopping you. And if you feel like you lack certain skills or abilities, then invest your time into learning and mastering them. It's important to commit to a continuous learning process. There are so many interests, topics and areas of knowledge for your mind to discover. How to become a well-read, cultured, and interesting adult? -Foster a curious, unprejudiced and open mindset. -Learn to respect and tolerate people's differences. -Appreciate art in its different forms of expression. -Read books, poetry, articles, blog posts: whatever interests you- just read more! -Don't consume meaningless content. -Travel and appreciate the beauty of other cultures. -Learn something new regularly: a new word, a new language, a new song. 7. Social Interacting with other individuals is an important part of life. But before you go out of your way to make plans for the weekend, take a moment to analyze the type of relationships you're fostering. I'm not asking you to be a loner but I want you to think about the type of people you're attracting to your life. I don't want you to take dramatic, problematic and toxic relationships into the next decade of your life. If someone is always gossiping, complaining, being negative, loading you with problems and causing you stress or anxiety, then it is time to let them go. You need to learn to set boundaries that protect your energy and peace of mind. 8. Spiritual This life is filled with mystery and wonder. I truly believe that in order to actually live with purpose and intention, it is important to understand that there is a bigger picture to our existence. Whether you believe in a god or a force of energy, finding and understanding the connection between our purpose and the greater good of humanity is a truly humbling experience. How to live intentionally and align with your purpose? -Every day make some time to appreciate the things around you. Look at the trees, marvel at the stars, take a deep breath, feel the sun in your skin. -Reflect and be grateful for the life you're living. -Think about how you can contribute to make this world a better place. -Always be kind and positive towards yourself and others. We've reached the end of your lifestyle and mindset realignment. I know each one of you has different needs and not all of the 8 dimension of wellness might need to be readjusted. The important thing is that you commit to starting a new phase in your life. And the perfect time is now! Don't wait until the new year to start new habits. Also, keep in mind that this is a process. You're not going to build the perfect life in a day. You need to be patient with yourself, embrace your current situation, and take things one day at a time. Thank you so much for reading. Until next time. Gabriela Fernández Copyright © Faërie Lifestyle. All rights reserved

  • Simple Ways to Foster Genuine Self-Love

At one point in our life, we have all felt like we're not good enough, as if there is something wrong with us, and that we are unlovable. It's not uncommon to experience this feelings, especially given the way society functions nowadays. The pressures of media, influencers, and brands makes us question our value. We fall trap to the comparison game and spend wishing our days away hoping to achieve a level of beauty, success and happiness that more often than not is fabricated and edited. For whatever reason it is that you're not feeling happy about yourself, I'm here to tell you that this is something the majority of us struggles with. I know I battle with this every day and from my experience I can tell you that you need to take it one day at a time. Things can get better, but it's going to take time and honesty to dive deep into your feelings and lifestyle to recognize the patterns and triggers that cause this feelings and attitude. There are some simple ways you can start showing yourself more love. If you practice this small actions regularly, you'll start to shift your mindset and start seeing how beautiful, important, and valuable you are. Like I told you, the important thing is to take it one day at a time and learn to celebrate and appreciate the small victories. This isn't a magic cure. It's a lifestyle change that has to be consistent and inclusive, meaning it requires you to work on several aspects of your mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. Mental well-being: It all starts with your mind You need to learn to love yourself and become your biggest supporter. I know this sounds like a cliché but it's the truth. Sometimes, it's our negative self-talk and self-doubts that affects us the most. We tend to be too hard on ourselves but are so invested in loving and caring for others. This isn't me telling you to stop being kind towards your family and friends, it's me telling you to start being more kind to yourself. You really should feel and treat yourself like the most important person in your life. There's no walking around it. I told you this isn't a magic cure. Also I'm not a guru that has life figured out. Just like you, I'm struggling to keep it together but I'm working hard every day to live and feel my best. That's why I'm sharing some ways I've been keeping my mind positive and inviting more self-love into my thoughts. 1. Setting boundaries | You can't be everything to everyone I can't even begin to tell you the times I've spent doing things for others, listening to their problems, only to find out that no one was really asking me about my own. I would lay in bed at night, upset and crying about my own struggles, with no one to talk to. So I've had to cut people out of my life completely. Not everyone-just the toxic ones. The ones that drain your energy and happiness and only use you for their own benefit without ever doing something kind and selfless for you. You don't owe anything to anyone and the sooner you embrace this truth, the more liberated and free you'll be. Remember, you are the most important person in your life and it's time to start putting your needs and wants at the top of the list. 2. Curate content | You become what you consume What you allow into your mind, becomes part of your life. If you're following people that annoy you or trigger unhealthy feelings, or you read news and articles that make your blood boil, you will invite jealousy or anger into your mind. So be mindful of the content you are consuming. No one is forcing you to follow someone on social media, or to buy a book that doesn't interest you. You don't have to watch a show on Netflix just because everyone else is talking about it. And you don't have to reply to hate on Twitter or Instagram or get involved in the latest YouTube drama. The choice is ultimately yours. Consume positive and inspiring content that makes you happy, serves a purpose and will help you grow as a kind and loving person. 3. Reassess your priorities | Your worth comes from within So many people make the mistake of tying their worth to external circumstances or material things. We've all done this at one point- thinking that if we buy certain items or if certain people give us attention or if we obtain a promotion or more money we will finally be happy, valuable and have everything we desire. The problem with this mindset is that nothing is ever enough. You end up in a cycle always wanting more and more. Being dependent on other people’s approval to feel worthy and important will leave you feeling drained and empty. Why? Because when you are constantly trying to impress other people you can't control how they treat you or even acknowledge you. And when they don't give you the attention and approval you crave, your mind spirals into feelings of rejection and heartbreak. Instead, take control back. Give yourself the power to acknowledge and believe that you are worthy and important exactly how you are. Every little quirk, every part of you, even your weird habits are special and unique. You don't need anything more than what you already have to be valuable and deserving. Physical well-being: take care of your body and your surroundings Let's face it, you can't achieve mental well-being without taking care of your body and your environment. You need your body to be healthy and you need your surroundings to give you peace, inspiration and joy. If you're constantly feeling sick or if you spend too much time in a messy, loud or dull space, you will start to feel sad and unmotivated. Sometimes it's really hard to get a grip on your physical health, especially if you suffer from chronic illnesses. I struggle with this myself and I can honestly tell you that many times I've blamed myself for getting sick. I get this feeling of guilt for always being tired and not being able to be productive with my work. I have so many to-do lists that are piling up in my desk drawers because my health issues won the battle that day and I had to give up. This makes me feel angry with myself and I feel like a total failure. But little by little I've started to accept the fact that it's okay to rest when I feel sick. I'm also learning to let go of the self-shaming and guilt tripping. I know that with some lifestyle changes and self-care practices I can improve my physical health and therefore allowing me to use my time for things that matter most to me. 4. Holistic health | The secret is in the details Nothing sustainable happens in one night, especially having a healthy body. You need to make lifestyle changes and be consistent with them. No single pill, diet or workout routine is going to solve your problems. Being honest with yourself, recognizing your weaknesses, and taking full responsibility is the first step. What bad habit are you having a hard time breaking? Look at your daily routine to identify those actions or moments in the day where you feel like total crap. It can be small things like not going to the dentist regularly, staying up late watching Netflix, eating late at night; or more serious things like not addressing nutrient deficiencies or overexerting yourself at the gym- you get the point. Without your health, you've got nothing. And there is no greater form of self-love than telling your body how much it means to you by taking proper care of it and treating it with love and respect. 5. Living sanctuary | You attract energy from all things around you Your surroundings should always make you feel peace, happiness and inspiration. Your mental and physical well-being are intertwined and because humans are sensory beings, they react to internal and external factors. If you're constantly spending time in a room where people are screaming or where things are messy and dirty, your sensory receptors will detect and respond to that stimuli of negative energy. This negativity has a direct impact in your body, which in turn releases stress hormones that can make you feel uneasy. I know it can be hard to avoid stressful environments, especially if you share a space with others. But there is no excuse for not making your own space as comfortable as possible. Even if you have a small area at home-maybe your room or a desk- wherever it is that you spend time alone, make sure it makes you feel like rainbows and butterflies. Keeping a space tidy, clutter-free, and surrounded by items and colors that inspire you will have such a big impact on your mood and feelings. 6. Be active | You are not a statue Your body needs to move. You can't expect to feel healthy and happy if you spend most of the day doing the same boring thing in the same boring position- which let's face it is probably sitting down in front of a computer. You need to use your energy, get your blood circulating and put those muscles to work. Any type of physical activity is beneficial to your overall health. You don't need to run a 10K or lift 200 lbs. at the gym to be active. Any little thing counts. The only requirement is that you do something fun. No one is forcing you to take a dreadful, annoying spinning class. Just do something you enjoy. Spiritual well-being: connect with your purpose Often times, when feelings of insecurity and low self-confidence take over our life, there's a deeper situation that needs to be addressed. My personal experiences lead me to finally understand that more than anything else, what I was really craving was having a sense o purpose and understanding of what path I wanted to pursue in life. Living a seemingly meaningless life can really take a toll on your mental and physical well-being too. You feel unworthy, useless, and you start comparing what others are doing. Then you start to wonder why things aren't working out for you. You start to blame yourself for not living and enjoying a successful life. There's no shortcut to finding and connecting with your life purpose and neither are you going to discover a single path. Life is unpredictable and your experiences will take you to different places both emotionally and spiritually. All you can do is surrender to what sets your soul on fire, listen closely to your intuition, and stand by your values, principles and beliefs. 7. Foster a creative mindset | Let your soul wander and discover. You can't have new and exciting experiences if you keep following the same routine. If you truly want to follow a path that allows you to live a life of meaning and purpose, you need to identify what opportunities are out there that resonate with your soul. Fostering your creativity doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. You can find new hobbies and activities everywhere around you. There are so many things you can try, like starting a journal, taking photographs, dancing. or joining a book club. All that matters is that you find a project you truly enjoy and that allows you to challenge your mind by creating and discovering something new. 8. Letting go | Forgive yourself for the past and move on Life is tricky and complex. Sometimes the only way to learn a valuable lesson is by making mistakes. No one can expect to live a life free of mess and chaos- even if it's something minuscule. There are situations where the pain is unbearable and you are really hurting. Letting go of the past is not an easy thing. It is even harder to let go of the feelings of anger, guilt and blame. But you need to understand that if you don't show yourself kindness and compassion, no one else will. The healing process starts with you. It will take time and commitment, but you need to be honest with yourself and evaluate how your past mistakes are making you feel. Sometimes you'll need to confront certain people or visit certain places to get a better understanding and gain closure. Just remember: take it little by little and don't push yourself. Be patient and trust that you will heal if you allow for change and transformation to fill your soul. 9. Trust your intuition | Listen to your emotions You know yourself better than anyone else. So at the end of the day, you need to listen to what your gut is telling you. Your intuition will tell you when someone or something isn't right for you. Sometimes it might seem difficult to know if you're making the right decision and it is normal to feel cluttered and clouded, especially given all the distress and distractions around us. But the most important thing is to listen to your emotions. Your soul will beam once you allow happiness, kindness, peace, growth, positivity, and self-love into your life. I hope this simple actions help you foster genuine self-love. I want you to know that you are truly amazing and valuable. Always stay true to yourself and embrace all your wonderful and incredible qualities. Remember, life is a journey and the important thing is to take it one day at a time. Be patient and kind with yourself. You deserve the greatest happiness and love from life. Thank you so much for reading. Until next time. Gabriela Fernández Copyright © Faërie Lifestyle. Purchasing a product or service from an affiliate link does not increase your purchase price. All of the products and services I recommend are based on my personal experience and research and are not representative of the companies that create them. 1. Milanote This is by far the best tool I use for planning all my creative projects. Milanote has a visual dashboard that allows you to organize your ideas and keep all your notes, lists, doodles and inspiration in one space. Source: Milanote They have thousands of templates available depending on what project you want to work on, and you can also work on your own blank canvas. This app serves as a planner and schedule for Instagram. You have a monthly/weekly calendar to schedule posts. You can also save hashtags in groups, which is a time saver when it comes to captions. There's also an area where you can view your comments per post, view you analytics and even create a shoppable feed. Source: Planoly Honestly, this is the best tool/app you can use to manage your Instagram account. The free version allows 1 Instagram account and 30 photos per month, which is perfect for a small/new blogger. If you want unlimited uploads, you can sign up to a paid plan. 3. Google Drive I use Google Drive every single day. I keep all my files and media, as well as backups to my blog posts. I love how I can sync all my files between all my devices which makes it easy and convenient when I'm not working in my home office. It's fast an easy to upload files and you can also take advantage of their office apps like Google Docs and Google Sheets to manage your blog. 4. Google Keep This app is probably the most useful tool ever. I have been using Google Keep for years. I like making lists for everything I have to do.
