The 10 Bookish Questions Tag
If I could only pick one thing to do for the rest of my life, that would be reading. Books are incredibly filled with knowledge, adventure, history, and timeless magic. I cannot even imagine what my life would be without books.
Please, be sure to show Emily some love and follow her on all her socials.
So, without further ado, here are my bookish answers.
1. How many books do you currently own?
If I am counting physical books, I think I currently own around 20. But if I count digital books, I probably own around 300. As you can see, I am a digital book lover, only because a. it is more convenient to have access to my book anywhere I go without having to carry any extra weight. I love being able to pull out my phone or tablet and read. And b. because I don’t have a lot of space in my room to designate to a bookshelf/library. If one day I do, I would probably start buying more physical books.
2. How many books are you currently reading?
Right now, I am reading 2 books. One is titled: These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabel Sterling and the other is titled Anxiety Elephants by Caris Snider.
3. Choose a couple of books you read but didn’t enjoy?
I really didn’t like Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso. I found here advice a little unpractical and not relatable to my personal journey. I do admire her courage, resilience, and drive. But the book wasn’t as exciting as some readers made it seem.
4. A cover buy?
One time, in a bookstore I found a beautiful vintage copy of Emma by Jane Austen that looked so beautiful and feminine that I had to buy it.
5. A book you haven’t read in years?
One of my all-time favourite books is The First Man by Albert Camus but the last time I read it was probably in 2010.
6. A book you will always recommend?
Two books that I completely love are We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Becoming by Michelle Obama. These two books have inspired me and taught be so much about being a strong and resilient woman that advocates and is more involved with the fight for equality, social justice and female empowerment.
7. All-time favourite book series?
The Harry Potter series will forever be magical to me. I’m not going to lie, the whole situation with J. K. Rowling has really made me not as interested in the HP series. But reminiscing to the past, I really did love it so much. It is such a shame that the author decided to cast a shadow in a story so pure and magical, by being so negative and intolerant.
8. Where do you read?
I love reading in bed, with my tablet. I usually read at night, so I like to get comfortable and cozy. If I’m reading something academic, I would usually sit on my desk and have a notepad to take notes.
9. What are the last two books you gave a 5-star rating?
Becoming by Michelle Obama and Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls.
10. What is your favorite way to read a book: physical books, e-books, or audiobooks?
I love my e-books for the convenience aspect. I can take it anywhere with me, I can sync my notes and annotations on the cloud, and I can quickly buy a book. I have not given audiobooks much of a chance, but I did listen to the Harry Potter Series and I loved it. Maybe I will try to listen to more books in the future.
