Friday Favourites N° 7

Happy Friday everyone. Welcome to a special Blogtober edition of my Friday Favourites series. This week I'll be sharing all the Autumn-inspired things I've been loving lately. There's a great curated selection on categories like music, fashion, books, health, TV shows and entertainment. So, let's dive right in to read all about this week's favourites.

Light On by Byron Langley

Some of you might know Byron from movies like The Kissing Booth and the Spud franchise. He has also appeared in some of Joe Sugg's vlogs and videos. And if you've seen Byron, you would know he is out of this world handsome and a very talented artist. He also has a YouTube channel where he shares videos about his life and his music. He has been teasing us with new music and today he just released his first song, Light On.

The song has a mixture of a chill-out vibe and a dance/synth beat, perfect to listen to when lounging at home, or when riding your car. His voice is perfect and his South African accent sounds so sexy. I am really impressed with this song and I'm so proud of how hard he worked on this.

Head Above Water by Avril Lavigne

After years of being on a hiatus, caused by her struggle with Lyme disease, Avril Lavigne is back with a powerful and emotional song where she shares her hardships on what she says were the worst years of her life as she went through both physical and emotional battles.

I personally related to this song and her journey because I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease 6 years ago and every day I have to battle a myriad of difficulties and problems. I relate to her pain, her loss of hope, her limitation to do more, but also to her inner strength that's telling her not to give up, to seek help from wherever it may come.

Becoming by Michelle Obama

I'm really looking forward to reading Michelle Obama's new memoir, Becoming. The book is a deeply personal experience, where she talks about her roots and how she found her voice, as well as her time in the White House, her public health campaign, and her role as a mother.

Mrs. Obama is one of the most important female leaders and role models of the last decades. I love her passion, her strength, her commitment to making the world kinder and her cool and smart personality. If there's a book I'm eager to read, it's Becoming.

Buy on Amazon

*The book will be released on November, 13th.

I found some staple pieces that are perfect for Autumn. First, this gorgeous Cashmere Sweater with a crew neckline that's available in a range of colours. The dark grey can be perfectly paired with this Abercrombie & Fitch high-rise ankle jeans in a dark wash and this beautiful cherry red ankle boots from Nordstrom.

SBO Probiotics

I recently purchased this SBO probiotics from Dr. Axe and they have work wonders for my gut and digestive health. Being affected by an autoimmune disease, it was very important to find a product that could help heal my leaky gut.

According to Dr. Izabella Wentz, "autoimmunity has been determined to be a three-legged stool, needing a combination of the right genes, the right triggers, and intestinal permeability to manifest itself." Intestinal permeability or leaky gut can be caused by dysbiosis which is an imbalance of probiotic (good) vs. opportunistic (bad) gut bacteria.

The SBO probiotics support healthy gut function and digestive health as well as a healthy immune system function, a healthy GI tract and normal microflora in the gut. They're made from 5 different strains of bacteria, contain a high CFU count and a special organic fermented botanical blend of sprouted seeds (with fats and vitamins) and adaptogenic herbs.

Netflix Picks

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'll know I always start watching shows when they already have a few seasons in. I kind of discover things when it's almost too late. But the good thing is that I get to binge watch a good amount of episodes in order to catch up with the series.

Greenleaf, a church-family-power drama, produce by the queen of all good things Ms. Oprah Winfrey, has been on for a couple of years. It's such a good show that dares to uncover the horrible truths that hide behind the big mega churches that have become so popular this days.

Religion and the so called Christian Fundamentalists, are in my opinion a set back for intellectual progress and individual freedom. And most of this churches are just business for these pastors that have filled their pockets with millions of dollars. It's good that people get to see the dirty side of this way of life and how so many Christians are actually hypocrites that use religion as a way of getting away with so much perversity, racism, homophobia and corruption.

As a side note, I'm not bashing God or Jesus Christ. I'm not an atheist. I actually grew up with two Christian parents that decided to raise me with the freedom to choose my own spiritual path. My family stopped going to church when I was 10 years old because we saw the hypocrisy from the congregation. The leaders and members of the church we attended looked down on poor people. They even divided the church and the rich people who tithed thousands, sat at the front while the poor people sat at the back. They didn't care about the struggles and problems this people might be facing. Things got so divided that they even had a different service days just for the elite of the church.

A lot of similar situations like this keep happening on churches all around the globe and I see a lot of evil, hate, and lies being spread in the name of christian religion. That's what finally made me decide not to set foot on a church again. I'm now a Buddhist and I can honestly say that I'm happy and at peace with my spiritual journey.
