The beginning of Autumn is the perfect opportunity to change up our makeup look and try on some beautiful burgundies, plums, and deep red shades, whether it's in lipsticks, nail varnishes and even eye-shadows.
The change in wardrobe is the proper excuse to try some looks we probably couldn't pull off during Spring or Summer. I personally feel more confident and experimental with my fashion during Autumn. So that's why today I wanted to share some ideas on a few of my favourite lipstick colours to rock during this season.
Favourite Lipstick Colours for Autumn 2018
Lipsticks in a Chestnut or Chocolate Brown shade always look amazing during Autumn. I love that you can play with your makeup and either make the lips the focus of the look or go for a statement eye-shadow look to make your eyes pop.
Brown lips are always a safe bet and in my opinion very flattering to all skin tones. The keys are to properly match your lip-liner (a neutral shade is your best bet) and not using a shade that is too dark for your skin tone to avoid looking like a 90's vampire.
I find that deep plum/purple berry shades are a bit tricky to pull off but I really want to step out of my comfort zone and give this shade a try.
The Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in the colour Glastonberry is a gorgeous muted purple berry tone.
A more affordable option is this Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick in the colour Griselda.
And if you're looking for a liquid lipstick with a plum/mauve berry shade, then this Anastasia Beverly Hills in the colour Poet might be a great option.
The perfect shade of lipstick for any occasion and that goes well with any outfit. Red makes you look put together and completes your look.
This L'Oreal Colour Riche Original Creamy, Hydrating Satin Lipstick, in the shade British Red, is a great, affordable option.
If your budget is on the high end, you can go for this Rouge Dior Lipstick in the shade 999 Red.
And if you're a fan of Liquid Lipstick then this Stila Stay All Day® Liquid Lipstick in the shade Beso is perfect for you.
A more pink/purple shade and not as dark as a plum, this type of lipsticks can be a great alternative if you want to try something a little bit different than a deep red.
The Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Paint-On Liquid Lipcolor in the shade Quite Riot is a good matte option or you can try this Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter, in the shade Raspberry Pie.
Deep reds are my go to shades all year round. But somehow, the Autumn days with the falling leaves and the cold breeze makes them look even better.
Mauve and Rose shades are a way to play it safe but look gorgeous and put together. This type of lipsticks look good with any type of makeup and can match any occasion, whether it is daytime or nighttime.
This Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in the shade Pillow Talk is my favourite Mauve/Rose Nude.
If you're looking for an affordable, long-lasting liquid lipstick try this Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Lip Color in the shade Loyalist.
How to take care of your lips
Okay, so now you have a wide selection of shades to rock this Autumn. But it's very important to take care of your lips.
To avoid dry, cracked lips you can do a DIY Lip Scrub by mixing one teaspoon of honey with two teaspoons of sugar and exfoliating them at least once a week. This will help remove dead skin and soften the lips.
Don't forget to use a lip balm on a daily basis to keep your lips moisturized and healthy. This Kiehl's balm is so good because it protects and helps relieve chapped or cracked lips.
Another great tip is to use an overnight, leave-on lip mask that soothes and moisturizes like this Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask.
That's the end of this post. I hope you get some inspiration for what lipstick colours you can wear during Autumn. Please, let me know in the comments down below some of your go-to lip shades. Also, share this post, to inspire your friends and family to try out some bold colours during this season and also let them know the simple tips they can follow to take care of their lips, especially in this weather.
